Being new to the kink and sex blogger world, seeing people constantly write about their experiences makes me uncomfortable some of the time. This is due to the lack of libido I have on occasion.
Yes, I am a sex blogger, who has a hugely variable libido. So why would I start a sex blog I hear you ask? Well I want to document my journey to stabilise my libido and hormone levels, while enjoying sex, polyamory and kink at the same time.
My low libido started about six years ago before we met Aphrodite and her husband. I told myself that I would look into it at some stage. I didn’t follow through with my personal promise until three years ago.
The reason for my delay in following through my personal promise was just the general challenges of life, career and parenting with two young children. But also that doctors here in Australia (and generally across the world) fear treating low testosterone with anything other than weightloss.
I did my research before starting anything, my symptoms of low libido, brain fog, low self esteem and depression can all be linked back to low testosterone levels. With a blood test carried out, and confirming low testosterone levels, I felt I could solve many of my problems with Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). But finding a doctor who will help with low testosterone with testosterone is a challenge.
After two endocrinologists left the solution to low testosterone to weightloss (which I have found challenging), I finally reached out to a testosterone clinic for help. So far I have had moderate success.
There has been some improvement in testosterone levels, with a slight improvement in libido. But not enough to function like a human. My dose has been upped in the hope that levels will rise further. Time will tell if this is enough.
But yes, there are challenges to helping libido here in Australia, and I am following one protocol. Not the optimal one compared with the general consensus of injections, but again, there appears to be only one doctor in Australia that leads with injections as a preference, and I will be exploring this after my current round of treatment with cream.
Hopefully this improves my libido and other things as well such as brain fog and depression.
Have you tried TRT? Success?
